Finding Presence
The Painted Portrait Project

A vivid marker of an artist finding their way back home, this study captures the exact moment a creative hiatus breaks. With one hand resting against their head, the sitter meets the viewer’s gaze. Pink and peach skin tones, a vivid green shirt, and a yellow background bring warmth to the portrait, while layered paint and fine vertical lines give the surface texture.

Completed after eight months away from portrait painting, Finding Presence marks my return to the human figure. The participant chose to remain anonymous, and my focus was on conveying their presence through expressive color and gesture.
