ORIGINAL ARTWORK
SOLD16 × 16 in; oil pastel on panel; 2015; sold.
Inspired by the quiet beauty of rural farmland near Kingston, Illinois, Samara’s landscapes from 2014 to 2016 capture his close connection to the land through plein air painting in oil pastels. Here, he began developing the expressive style that defines his work today, adding and removing color with knives, wire brushes, and other unconventional tools to create richly textured surfaces alive with movement.
