Wetland Light, Chain O’Lakes (c. 2016)

Turquoise water winds through golden grasses beneath a sky streaked with lavender, rose, and yellow. Across the marsh, a gathering of bare trees rises in violet and rust, their upright marks contrasting with the broad movement of water and cloud. Painted from a favorite overlook in Chain O’Lakes State Park, this landscape records a place Gyan Samara returned to many times. Its intricate channels and open distances offered a changing subject, inviting him to pause beside the road and follow the light across the wetlands.
