About the Painting
Sunset Behind Home captures a fleeting moment of evening light in the alley behind Gyan Samara's former home in Rogers Park, Chicago. A luminous rose-pink sky illuminates the neighborhood, casting brilliant oranges, golden yellows, and cool blues across the surrounding architecture. Dense, expressive foliage frames the composition, while richly layered greens, violets, and deep shadows transform an ordinary residential alley into a vibrant landscape filled with atmosphere and movement.
Created around 2015–2016, this painting reflects Samara's fascination with discovering beauty in familiar and often overlooked urban environments. Expressive oil pastel marks, layered colors, and energetic textures capture the changing light and emotional character of a place once called home. Although the original artwork was lost during a subsequent move to Georgia, its photographic image survives, allowing this intimate memory of Chicago to be shared with collectors through fine art reproductions.

Important Information for Larger Prints
The 120 × 120 cm and 135 × 135 cm canvas reproductions are enlarged beyond the image's recommended optimal printing range. At these larger dimensions, some fine details and individual marks may appear softer when viewed closely. The overall composition, expressive colors, and atmospheric qualities remain central to the artwork. For collectors seeking the sharpest reproduction of fine details, sizes of 100 × 100 cm or smaller are recommended.
