Red Rock

Red Rock (2017) | Gyan Samara

Scarlet trunks rise through a woodland alive with lemon yellow, emerald, and turquoise. Thick, curling oil pastel marks weave between the trees, creating a lively rhythm of foliage and light above warm red and rose colored rocks. Painted on location in Georgia, this small, energetic work was my first painting during that park visit, with my Great Dane, Da Vinci, exploring beside me. It holds the joy of discovering a landscape together, each stroke alive with that first encounter.
