About the Painting
A photograph shared across continents became the starting point for this intimate portrait. Created around late 2017 to 2018 as part of The Painted Portrait Project, the painting depicts an Australian model whom Gyan Samara discovered on Instagram and who gave permission for his image to be painted. The portrait becomes a conversation between a steady gaze and the restless energy of color.
Coral, crimson, orange, and gold move across the face in layered oil pastel marks, balanced by cool blue-green eyes and a quiet gray-green background. Each stroke gives the portrait its rhythm, allowing tenderness and intensity to coexist. The close composition brings the viewer into an encounter with someone far away, made present through the act of painting.
Poly-cotton blend canvas with a matte/satin finish, designed to resist scratches, cracking, and warping.

For a more dramatic statement, 100 × 100 cm (approximately 39.4 × 39.4 inches) is also available. This size falls within Printumo’s light-green quality range, indicating lower predicted clarity than the smaller options. Fine marks and facial details may appear softer when viewed closely. This size has not been verified through a physical test print; we recommend 50 × 50 cm for those who prioritize clarity.
