Free Like a Bird | Canvas Print | Gyan Samara

Expressive color gives a quiet, inward pose a luminous presence in this work from The Painted Portrait Project. The seated figure rests his face against a raised knee, while an extended leg carries the composition across the floor. Rose, gold, turquoise, and violet marks follow the body’s contours, echoed by delicate patterns on the pale wall. Developed from photographs Gyan Samara took of a friend during an emotionally difficult period, the portrait offers a compassionate reflection on vulnerability and human connection. The original was created with acrylic markers on heavyweight paper and measures 22 × 30 inches.

Poly-cotton blend canvas with a matte/satin finish, designed to resist scratches, cracking, and warping.
