About the Painting
Long passages of burnt orange, russet, and gold sweep across a cultivated field toward a gathering of deep green trees beneath a brilliant blue sky. Painted on location in oil, roughly an hour to an hour and a half south of Chicago, this landscape grew from the pleasure of following winding dirt roads beyond the suburban sprawl. Samara found a place to pull off beside a farmer’s field entrance and settled into painting. Broad, decisive strokes echo the direction of the furrows, drawing the viewer into a rural landscape discovered through curiosity and the freedom of taking another turn.
